About Me

Anand the Artist

An enthusiastic individual eager to learn and grow.

Sweetly called by everyone Anand (more so, as he himself likes it) had speech challenges as a child which he overcame in a few years, and can now fluently speak Tamil, English, and Hindi languages. To achieve language proficiency, he needed regular speech therapy and special education – a process which was provided by speech therapists and special educators with the able assistance and care of his mother who was his constant companion in the whole endeavor.
His parents gave him mostly inclusive education and some special school education to aid his growth. In August 2024 he is going to be 25 years old and having become a Portrait Artist is starting his own Art Studio – “Anand Arts”. He seeks the support of all of you in supporting him in his
start-up venture.
Anand’s Art Interest
His parents initially, with an intention to train him in his chosen field tried to find out his interests and thus he dabbled in playing the keyboard, playing cricket, karate, and drawing. While he could not sustain his interest in the keyboard and didn’t have the skill to practice cricket, as parents we are proud to say Anand obtained his Karate Black Belt in ‘isshinryu’ Karate in the year 2017. Anand learnt his drawing skills from Future Scholars, Alwarpet and ‘Shristi School of Culinary Arts and Crafts’, Mylapore, Chennai. He studied painting and drawing and cleared various levels to have good proficiency in the skill.

Anand has conducted a few exhibitions by displaying his art and his interest and core strength is in drawing portraits. Anand did the first public display of his art at the “Alumni Club” in the year 2016 where he drew portraits of freedom fighters that included Mahatma Gandhi, Veer Savarkar, Kamaraj, Chidambaram Pillai, Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai, Rajagopalachari, Sarojini Naidu, Sathyamurthy and various others. He also gave a public speech to the audience who attended the Alumni Club which had assembled there for a program for autistic children.

After the exhibition which was a success, he had shown some of his paintings on Scientists viz. Albert  Einstein, Alexander Grahambell, John Logie Baird, Sir Issac Newton, Michael Faraday and others to Mr. Mani Ratnam, film director who went through the paintings and appreciated his work.
We are highly indebted to Ma’m. Mythili Chari, who is a renowned Special Educationist in India, who has travelled world over and who is rendering yeomen service for the last more than 4 decades in the field of autism and guiding parents of differently abled children with various challenges to their absolute relief. Her contribution in guiding us bringing up Anand at each stage has been immeasurable for which we can’t thank her enough and for which we remain forever indebted to her. If Anand can take up a profession like drawing, speak fluently in 3 languages and be very sociable it is all due to her constant guidance to us – his parents.
In 2015, Ms. Mythili Chari wrote a book titled “Autism Book of Revelations” by Masters and Mythili, the book dealt with special abilities of autistic children. She thought about pictures for the book and asked Anand to draw pictures of each children which appeared ineach chapter of the book, a huge recognition for Anand.
Later, Anand conducted an exhibition at home of all his drawings and paintings, which was well received by friends and family. His recent works include ‘Mahaperiyava’ and ‘Kanchi Kamakshi’
